What size tablecloth do I need? Wedding tablecloth size guide
Choosing the right tablecloth size is the difference between a table that looks considered and one that looks borrowed. Our linens are generously sized to fall to the floor, and this guide sets out exactly which cloth fits which table.
Quick answer
- 6ft trestle: one 96 x 144in cloth, with about 91cm drape at each end.
- Joined trestles: dressed as one continuous run, with about 100cm floor drape at each end and about 15cm overlap where cloths meet.
- 5ft–6ft round: 132in round cloth.
- 4ft round, cake table or poseur table: 110in round cloth.
- Spares: about one per table row, minimum two.

How much drop should a wedding tablecloth have?
The drop is how far the cloth falls from the table edge. A short drop looks like a dinner party at home; a full drop, falling to or near the floor, hides table legs and gives the soft, sculptural silhouette that makes wedding tables photograph so well.
Our cloths are cut to fall generously. On a single 6ft trestle, a 96 x 144in cloth leaves about 91cm of drape at each end. On our round cloths, 132in for 5ft–6ft rounds and 110in for 4ft rounds, cake and poseur tables, the cloth falls in a full, even drop all the way round.
Long banquet tables
Long tables are built from several trestles pushed together, and we dress them as one continuous run rather than one cloth per trestle. Cloths overlap by about 15cm where they meet, so there is no gap, and the run ends with about 100cm of linen falling to the floor at each end.
Because the number of cloths depends on the length of your run, the quickest way to plan is our calculator: enter your tables and it works out how many cloths you need. Add about one spare per table row, with a minimum of two, for spills and last-minute changes. If any of your tables are wider than about 3ft, ask us first, as standard cloths may not give the right drop.
