Wedding linen hire in Scotland

ALBA, the UK's specialist in pure linen tablecloth hire, supplies pure linen trestle cloths, patterned and bespoke napkins and floor-length cloths for weddings and events across Scotland, from Edinburgh and East Lothian to Glasgow, Perthshire and the Highlands. Linen is sent from our Cotswold studio by tracked FedEx courier with a printed returns label, so a castle marquee in the Borders is dressed exactly as a Cotswold barn would be.

Scotland asks a lot of a table. Long candlelit dinners in castle halls, marquees on estate lawns, a late summer light that lingers past ten: these are settings that reward real texture. Pure linen softens under candlelight, falls in deep folds to the floor and looks better for being lived with, which is why so many planners choose it over polycotton for the great houses of Scotland.

Our tablecloths have been photographed at Gosford House in East Lothian, in an editorial shot by Katie Julia and designed by Rosie Green Events, and later featured by The Embroidered Napkin Company. It is the kind of room our linen was made for: grand, a little faded and full of light.

What sets our collection apart. As the UK's specialist in pure linen tablecloth hire, we offer plain-colour pure linen trestle cloths in soft naturals and deeper tones; the Katie Julia designs, which are only available to hire from ALBA; and generous cuts that take trestles and rounds right to the floor, so a long Scottish banquet table reads as one unbroken line.

How it works when you are in Scotland. We pack everything at our studio and send it by FedEx with tracking. Deliveries arrive Monday to Friday between 9am and 5:30pm to a ground-floor or loading area, so for a Saturday wedding we plan a weekday delivery and agree the dispatch date with you when we confirm the order. Every order includes a printed returns label: once the party is over, pack the linen back into its boxes and the courier collects it. Delivery is priced by the number of boxes, and we will include it in your quote.

Linen and other non-breakable items go by courier, which keeps costs down and delivery efficient. Glassware and other breakables travel with our own driver, and for larger events our own team can deliver, set up and steam on site, quoted per event. Tell us your venue and table plan and we will put together a quote, or use the tablecloth calculator to see which cloths you need.

Questions we are often asked

Do you deliver wedding linen to Scotland?

Yes. We send linen anywhere in Scotland by FedEx courier with tracking, from Edinburgh and Glasgow to Perthshire, Aberdeenshire and the Highlands. Delivery is priced by the number of boxes and is included in your quote.

How is the linen delivered and returned?

Our linen travels by FedEx courier with tracking, and every order includes a printed returns label, so packing it up after the event is simple. Deliveries and collections run Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, to a ground-floor or loading area, and we need a named contact on site. We never promise next-day delivery; we plan dispatch around your event date when we confirm the order.

How long is the hire, and when should we book?

The standard hire period is three days, which comfortably covers a Friday delivery and a Monday return. Quotes are held for four weeks, a 60% deposit secures the stock, and the balance is due six weeks before the event. Popular patterns go early for summer weekends, so it is worth enquiring as soon as you have a date.

Which cloths are pure linen?

Our pure linen cloths are plain-colour trestle cloths, cut long enough to reach the floor, and that is where we are the UK's specialist in pure linen tablecloth hire. Round cloths and our printed designs come in other fabrics, and each product page says exactly what the cloth is made of.

Do your tablecloths reach the floor?

Yes. Our cloths are cut generously so that trestles and rounds can be dressed to the floor, which is the look most planners ask us for. As a guide, 5ft to 6ft rounds take our 132" round cloth. Use the size calculator or the size guide to match a cloth to your tables.

Do we need to wash the linen before returning it?

No. Simply shake off crumbs, pack the linen back into its boxes and attach the returns label. We launder and press everything ourselves.
